Lebrecord.com
is a website dedicated to the visual arts in Lebanon and how they interact
and relate to the visual arts at large. The aim of lebrecord.com is:
1- To disseminate information about the arts in Lebanon
2- To highlight the work of Lebanese artists.
3- To explore various projects and engage the public.
4- To keep the Artists and public informed about what is hapenning on the art
scene in the country and abroad, related to Lebanon.
The divisions of the website:
I- Featured Artist section:
Q- What is the featured artist section?
A-The Featured Artist section explores the work of a Lebanese artist
once a month. lebrecord.com showcases a sample of the artist's work,
conducts a brief interview, and then discusses the work on a forum
dedicated to this section.
Q- Could my work be featured on this section? If yes, what are the conditions?
A- Yes it could. To be featured on lebrecord.com, contact Mr. Maroun
Kassab at mk@lebrecord.com
To be featured on this section, your work must have an artistic value,
and must pass lebrecord.com committee's evaluation. Whether you are a
young or an established artist, if you meet the set criteria, lebrecord.com
will feature your work on this section. lebrecord.com mission statement
is geared towards the dissemination of information.
II- The Q-Record section:
Q: What is the Q-Record?
A: The Q-Record is a collaborative effort to fill a gap. It is a push
to stir the creative effort of the Lebanese artists and designers into
a specific area where artworks, designs, and productions are lacking,
so that they might develop something out of it eventually. This is
a Quarterly section of the website. This section depends heavily on
submissions from Lebanese artists who are interested in the subject
matter presented every quarter. Therefore, participation is heavily
encouraged.
Q: Who are we targeting in this section?
A: We are targeting everybody with our submissions. The style is left
to the artist. We will publish all the entries that meet the criteria
we set, with credits to the artist. Please remember that we are not classifying,
we are only disseminating.
Q: What's in it for the artists?
A: Publicity and exposure.
Q: Will there be any further incentives?
A: lebrecord.com might change this section in the future to a permanent
competition, when enough funds become available for this to happen. For
now, there are no plans to do that, just a possibility. Please remember
that we are a non-profit organization. Our aim is to disseminate artwork
of Lebanese visual artists. We are planning for the website to sustain
itself through a couple of advertisements, and probably an online store,
where we will be selling some postcards, and perhaps T-Shirts. We are
all artists, graphic designer, architects, etc. who realized that there
is no proper outlet, especially on the internet, for disseminating the
work of Lebanese artists. It's a collaboration project.
III- The Calendar:
Q: What is the Calendar?
A: The Calendar shows all events related to Lebanon art and culture scene.
Not only in the field of visual arts but in the field of arts at large.
You can subscibe to a feed of our calendar and you can also add it
to your own online calendar as well.
